Clergy had the most incredible response to police using Black mugshots for target practice

In December, while visiting a shooting range in Medley, Florida, National Guard Sgt. Valerie Deant came to a horrifying realization: Members of the North Miami Beach police force, who had just left the facility, had been using mugshots of young black men for target practice.

In response, these clergy members created #usemeinstead

Novel Idea: If you have, or live with someone who has, such severe allergies to an animal that you can provide it with the minimum amount of care to keep it happy and safe than you shouldn’t have that pet.

You’re not entitled to a cat, the world does not owe you a cat, if you can’t take care of the cat – which, again, includes keeping them in a safe and controlled environment – than do not have a cat.

The “all outdoor cats will die because people don’t know how to watch where they’re going” bit is the fucking best.

Swerving and stopping short are not safe maneuvers, don’t you dare blame people for not risking their lives and the lives of their passengers, especially their children, because you can’t be asses to take care of your pet properly or just not have that pet.

If you think your cat is smart enough to stay out of the road, you’re wrong. “But my cat-“ you’re wrong. “My cat has never-“ you’re wrong. Your cat has no idea that these weird human construction is inherently dangerous, they don’t have some intrinsic knowledge to look both ways before crossing the street, or use cross walks, or whatever other mythical fantasy you’ve built up in your head.

Even human children don’t have this down. Even raccoons, quite intelligent creatures, who spend their lives fending for themselves and have a healthy dose of caution regarding humans die regularly on the roads.

I’ve had to practically pick up a cat to move them as they lay on the road while a car barelled down on them, because the warm was road and good for sleeps and cat’s are furry little idiots unaware of their own mortality.

Not to mention that cars aren’t even close to being the only risk to free-roaming cats.
