Let’s talk about blizzard and their laziness for a moment.
We all know that getting more cosmetics and/or customization options is something Blizzard is terrified of and then when we finally get it, it’s unfinished. There were so many beard textures that needed retexturing after the initial model update, and some still do because they didn’t finish what they started.
And even with the new models, many of the older faces lost their character and personality. Some weren’t even finished, such as the Night Elf blindfold option.
There’s no variety in the new faces, they usually range from Mad to Really Mad but Crusty. Or Pretty to Pretty but with one (1) wrinkle.
They also had a lot of hair models that were in the files, but never added to the game. Many of them were even updated AND used on NPC’s
With the night elf one, in particular, they even showcased that at Blizzcon and yet it was never made an option for players.
As for the gnome, they actually did do that hair, they just never gave it to gnomes.
This is not even considering how many of the skin tones were lightened or flat out removed when the new models were introduced and it’s so sad and infuriating that WoW probably have the easiest models to create hair for, because they don’t work with a lot of polygons or physics, yet they never add anything new to players. And they clearly have a lot of unique (and finished) hairstyles that are just not available to players for some reason.
I have a feeling that at some point, Blizzard will make a “Customization update! Hype!!!” and add things that have been finished for more than 4+ years and while I’ll still be excited about it, it just feels bad to know they could easily have implemented this a LONG time ago.
It’s always a bit crazy to me that WoW is one of the only large scale MMOs I know who extremely rarely get more options. As in, close to never. Similar games like FFXIV or GW2 have gotten a lot of additions, but WoW adds maybe one new thing every two years if you’re lucky.
I still really love it but yeah, I wish they would start prioritizing the player characters a bit more.
