Fiona first appeared in one of the DA novels, The Calling, and she also returns in Asunder, but this is the first time we got to see her in the games. She’s amazing and doesn’t get enough credit. Everyone likes to say Anders started the war, but actually, what officially kicked off the war was Fiona’s decision to call a vote for the Circle to declare independence from the Chantry, over a year after the conflict in Kirkwall. Fiona’s a great character and a hugely influential figure in the Mage-Templar conflict, and she deserves more love and recognition.

That said, if you don’t know anything about her outside of her appearance in DA:I, here is a good summary of her story up until DA:I.
