You’re missing the point, friend, it’s not about youths having access to pornography. It’s that the whole “family friendly” thing is code for “anything heteronormative or ‘normal’.” They start off by pretending that it’s a matter of hiding sensitive content from younger users (which, in and of itself, is a good thing), but what constitutes “NSFW” will gradually shift as the site tries to “clean its image up” and before you know it, things like simple pictures of two gay adults kissing is considered “inappropriate” and gets flagged as such, because what constitutes “not safe for kids” in modern society generally includes us: LGBTQ+ people, no matter how innocuous or innocent we are being. I perfectly explained on the post EXACTLY how YouTube has done this by flagging non-sexual LGBTQ+ content as “sensitive.”
You guys are not seeing the forest for the trees. Give it time, and you’ll come to see that I was right (sadly).
If you don’t believe me, just notice Tumblr’s ACTUAL reasoning behind this: child pornography has BEEN a problem on this site for ages, but Tumblr didn’t give a shit about kids seeing that or being involved in that until Apple took down their app from the app store. It’s about money for them, not about caring about building an actually safe and functioning community. It’s also why the Nazis remain untouched.
