Existing in online spaces this year has taught me something.
Living under AI doesn’t mean a hyper smart machine/predator that we can’t really control.
It means that Society™ slowly turns into one long argument with the CRA agent, where life is reduced to the logic of a machine that’s got to make sweeping proclamations that are so obviously busted at the floor level, like the Tumblr algorithm thinking that deserts are naked women.
And it’s not malicious in new and dangerous ways. It’s malicious in the old way, the way the buerocrats always were.
Gay people’s files disappearing. Black people’s mortgages getting denied. Certain people getting huge voices while others scream in futility.
I guess what I’m saying is that it took an AI controlled space to make me realize:
We’ve already been living under cybernetics for quite some time.
