I was playing dragon age inquisition and running around Haven when I noticed some of the background npc’s having a conversation about the Chant. An elven scout asked about there having once been an elf in the chant, the cleric couldn’t deny it fast enough then swore that it didn’t mean the maker loved elves less. I find that pretty twisted, and it reminded me just a bit of Mother Petrice. Are there more corrupt acts in the chantry then just these? What is your opinion?

I’ve overheard this too. It’s the part where she quickly insists the Maker still loves elves after lying about there not being any elves in the Chant (because of course, the Chantry erased the Canticle of Shartan after the Exalted March of the Dales) that really gets me. She doesn’t want this elf to know about Shartan, but she doesn’t want to loose a follower. “We don’t want to recognize your existence but we want your servitude.”

I’m gonna assume when you say “are there more corrupt acts in the Chantry than just these” you mean small-scale things from NPC dialogue, and not like, the overwhelming list of horrible atrocities committed by the Chantry LOL… In which case the answer is yes. In DA:I alone if you stand around different clusters/pairs of NPCs and listen in, a lot of them talk to each other. And a lot of them are Chantry folk who are ignorant/gross.
